What Babies Under 1 Should Not Have - An Evidence-Based Guide to Water, Honey, Raw Milk, Sugar and Pouches

In the first year of life, different rules apply to babies than to adults. Under 6 months babies normally need no additional water, only breast milk or infant formula. Honey should be avoided throughout the entire first year because it can cause infant botulism. Raw milk is not a good idea for babies because of possible germs such as E. coli, listeria, salmonella or campylobacter. Fruit juice is not recommended in the first year, and added sugar should be avoided where possible until the age of 2. Pouches are not fundamentally „forbidden“, but as an everyday snack they are often less sensible than their image suggests.
