Homeopathy, Schuessler Salts & Co. – An Evidence-Based Assessment from a Pharmacist's Perspective

High-potency homeopathic preparations contain no detectable active substance, and Schuessler salts too supply minerals only in heavily diluted form. A specific effect going beyond the placebo effect has so far not been scientifically demonstrated. The placebo effect itself is real and can explain subjective improvement, but it is not a pharmacological mechanism of action. It becomes problematic above all when effective, evidence-based treatments are delayed or replaced by preparations that do not work. Health decisions should therefore rest as far as possible on transparent, robust scientific evidence.
